There are four projects on offer, students can choose tuition on one of the projects and then continue working on the same project, receive tuition on an existing project (continuance), or any combination. 

8A Japanese Bead Embroidery:
Colours’ evening purse or box top or Continuance

 

A statement purse with standout colours to go with that little black dress perhaps

Alternatively, use it to decorate a box top.  In this workshop learn to select stitch technique, bead type and colour to create a co-ordinated flow to the design, a criterion for this style of bead embroidery.  Simultaneously, learn practical application strategies for best outcome.  

Skill Level: All Welcome

Kit Cost:

Purse Kit: $100.00 (includes purse frame) OR

Box top Kit: $75.00. Please note that box is not included in the kit. Box with an opening of 18cmx18cm is recommended. If you have a different size box, or require a box, please advise the Workshop Registrar who will put you in touch with Margaret to discuss your options and choices.

A slate frame with an opening of 35cm x 40cm is required. If you wish to purchase a frame with your kit, cost of frame is $60.00 and your project will come ready framed up for class. This cost is paid directly to Margaret.

For continuing students or those wishing to commence the formal bead embroidery program, Margaret will work with you on your individual project level. Please advise the Workshop Registrar who will put you in touch with Margaret to discuss your options and choices.

8B Chinese Embroidery: Three Sisters or Continuance

With a long and rich history, embroidery is a cultural heritage of China and has the status of art in its own right alongside painting and calligraphy. The special techniques developed and used have resulted in an unsurpassed embroidery artistry in the genre of ‘thread painting’, considered to be one of the most complex forms of hand embroidery, and have set Chinese embroidery apart from other forms of embroidery. Three Sisters is an ideal project to gain foundational technical skills for this special style of embroidery.

Skill Level: All Welcome

Kit Cost: $80.00

A slate frame with an opening of 30cm x 30cm is required. Participants may use own frame. If you wish to purchase a frame with your kit, cost of frame is $60.00 and your project will come ready framed up for class. This cost is paid directly to Margaret.

8 Traditional Japanese Embroidery suitable for Beginners
  Choose from either
8C Hanazume

This is a multi-level class in traditional Japanese embroidery and caters to all levels, whether you’re a beginner, continuing or advanced embroiderer. You may elect to start the formal Japanese embroidery program in which case, the project offered is Hanazume (Flower circle). Alternatively, if you wish to try a simpler design, Golden Lily is the option offered.

8D Golden Lily or Continuance

This project is worked with metal threads and Japanese flat silk.

Skill Level: All Welcome

Kit Cost: $60.00 for Golden Lily.
