Following on from the popularity of Block of the Month in previous years the offering for 2021 is by Tania Cohen
Please note this workshop is starting in February 2021
The block of the month for 2021 is a Jacobean crewel design with an exciting modern twist. Stitching the
Australian Tree of Life, you’ll be learning a variety of interesting surface stitches, a few lovely needle lace
and weaving patterns, trellis and other filling work. You will also be taught Goldwork techniques
including working with leather, different wires and cords. The flowers will all be stylised Australian
flowers, mostly our beautiful Western Australian wildflowers.
You will have the opportunity to use threads from your stash, and every month you will receive a small
kit with all the specialist cords, threads, wires, beads, felt, and gilt kid leather you’ll need. In addition,
you will receive stitch notes you will need to complete that month’s section.
The kit for the first month will cost $30 at most, and in addition to your first kit, will include the pattern,
silk fabric and backing fabric. The subsequent monthly kit will vary in cost but will not be more than $15
per month. (Note: Kit cost is paid to tutor on attendance.)
