‘Our Heritage for the Future’
A date to highlight in your diary!
This year’s event will be very special. The National theme is “Our heritage for the future” and what could be more positive than to have a closer look at some wedding dresses and rituals, always with a wish for future happiness and future generations.
There will be “something old” from the collection of the Royal West Australian Historical Society, “something new” from the Textile Collection of the EGWA (left), and for the day we will have a” borrow” of the most recent Embroiderers’ Guild bride who will show us the dress made by her mum and embroidered by a band of talented embroiderers for her wedding in Austria (right).
You can be sure there will be something blue, but not in bad taste.
A talk by Victoria Canova, Guild member, studying fashion in an Honours degree at ECU, spending a semester of work experience with the RWAHS, Gail Hawes Guild member and travel textile specialist, and Sheridan Coleman, Guild member bride, will be accompanied by a display of wedding garments.
Morning tea and coffee will be served after the talk. See you in the front row!
