This is a typical Elizabethan design featuring coiling stems of gold, enclosing flowers, insects and small creatures stitched in Gumnut Yarn “stars” silks on a linen background. This project allows students to build on their embroidery techniques and skills.
The piece for this class is a standalone piece and can be framed or mounted on the lid of a box OR the piece can be put towards an embroidered Elizabethan casket which is to be done over a three year period. This piece has been designed to be used for the side panels on the casket. The design measures 13.5cm x 15.5cm.
