These three recently acquired pieces are part of the most extensive collection of textiles in Western Australia. For nearly 20 years a team of volunteers has been conserving and placing in storage items of significance to history of the State of WA for research and educational purposes. You may think a piece is beautiful, but look closer and you will see the intricacy of the stitching and design.
The drawn thread piece is long enough to be set into an Edwardian petticoat, the Broderie Anglaise cape would have looked beautiful worn by a young girl. The colourful stitched piece is a tribal design of uncertain origin.
